Kenneth MacMillan’s ballets are landmarks of twentieth century dance. His best known works, Romeo and Juliet, Manon, Mayerling, Song of the Earth, Elite Syncopations, engage, delight and challenge audiences around the world.
MacMillan brought a strong moral sensibility to classical ballet. In his hands ballet was not a fairytale art. On the contrary, it was charged with theatrical urgency and it mirrored profoundly the human condition in ways only dance can.
This website is an introduction to his life and work and to his continuing legacy. A project of The MacMillan Estate, it was launched in December 2009 to mark the eightieth anniversary of Kenneth MacMillan's birth. Please come back and visit.
